Bohemian - My New Grand Prix Star

About three weeks ago young star Bohemian debuted in his first Grand Prix. These past few weeks he’s been really good at training and I felt that he was slowly getting ready to debut in the higher levels. Admittedly only at a small C-competition, but you have to start somewhere.

Our first start was really good. It was so nice to have him out again, and the trotting ride went especially well. He was so cool in the piaffe and passage work and from such a young horse the presentation was excellent. In the canter we made a few mistakes, amongst others in two tempies and a canter pirouette. But overall, a solid presentation with a lot of highlights. This was Bohemian’s first trip up the middle in a Grand Prix, and there was even a victory at 73%.

This was the start. In the two following weeks our fantastic trainer-team Kyra Kyrklund and Nathalie Zu-sein Wittgenstein came to visit. They pointed out some things that we should improve on and then we went off for another Grand Prix trip to Heslegårds Riding Club about a week ago.

This time we got the warm-up timed a bit better. Bohemian is not the easiest when it comes to the warm-up, because even though he’s fit as a fiddle, the higher levels require a bit more from us and he loses energy faster than usual. So that day we only warmed up for 40-45 min., which was perfect to keep him energised in the arena.

This time we had an amazing piaffe passage and he barely made any mistakes. The rider messed up a little at the passage after the walk, but other than that we almost only got good marks at this GP. We got our first 10 in trot travers to the right, and a few 9s for passage, collected walk and canter piroutte. I was so happy when I could let go of the reins and stroke the little star. What a ride!

The percentage we got was also a bit crazy - 81%... I don’t think there’s any doubt that the future looks bright for this little star!

Congratulations to the owners, the Zinglersen family, with their “new” Grand Prix horse.

Bohemian, min nye Grand Prix stjerne
