So Happy About Equitour

The weekend before last I went to the Equitour competition in Aalborg. Not only did I have Bohemian with me, but some of my amazing students were also competing! Celine Silfen competed in the Young Rider Nations Cup and Sara Vandeurs competed in the individual young rider category, and they both did SO well! Sara did a hat trick all three days and Celine won the preliminary and final for young riders and came number two on the middle day. I think they did so amazing and it’s really looking good for their upcoming season. They’re also going to the European Championship this year and so far they’re really strong compared to both the Danish and International riders. I know they’re both going to do really well, and as a trainer it makes me really proud to see them get so far.

For me and Bohemian everything went really well as well. Uggerhalne is normally not the easiest place for Bohemian. The past two years have been quite complicated for him both during the warm-up and also in the arena as well, and this year didn’t start super great either. He was really tense during the warm-ups for the first couple of days, but luckily we had decided to come there a bit early so there was time to get him to relax in those surroundings before the competition started for us. The first start in the Grand Prix was probably the best one we’ve ever done together. He did so well on the arena, even though it was pretty intense and I’m super excited about the results we got. He’s still lacking some strength sometimes, but there are other exercises that he does so incredible well, and we got both 8s and 9s in the piaffe-passage. I’m really really happy with our second place in the Grand Prix. The result also meant that we (Denmark) got ahead in the Nations Cup which was really cool. Last year we ended up as number 2 in the Nations Cup in Uggerhalne, so of course we aimed for a gold medal this year.

Cathrine Dufour Bohemian Special Ridehesten

On the Sunday I was riding the Special. I haven’t ridden Special since maybe September or October last year. Even though it’s been a really long time, I think we did really well. Bohemian’s canter-work is looking really good, especially right before walking. I also think that this was one of the best Specials we’ve ever done together. There were a couple of mistakes in the gallop towards the end, because Bohemian was getting a bit tired, but overall a super performance. I think it’s a good sign that we did so well before the Danish Championship next weekend, which makes me really happy and excited. Bohemian is really growing a lot and I think he’s probably better than ever, so I’m really really excited about the Danish Championship!
